The Sitia Self-Help Promotion Program in cooperation with the 2nd Primary School of Neapolis held a 10-hour educational seminar and workshop on the construction of “Toys of the World” with the school’s teachers.
Initially, on Saturday, May 6, an educational seminar on the phenomenon of addiction and the prevention of addiction and other psychosocial problems was held, with reference to the use of “Toys of the World” in participatory prevention actions. Among other things, the definition of the phenomenon of addiction, the way it appears in modern times and the causes that accompany it were discussed. In addition, information was provided on the prevention of addictions and a space was created for reflection on the role of the school in this regard, through examples from the school and local community of Sitia. Finally, the teachers were introduced to the “Toys of the World” and chose which of them will be built in the next meeting.
Then, on Saturday, May 13th, a participatory workshop on the construction of “Toys of the World” was implemented, aiming at the creation of a toy library that will remain at the school and can be used in subsequent participatory activities with children and adults.
We would like to thank all the teachers of the 2nd Primary School of Neapolis for their cooperation and their warm hospitality.
